One of the great pleasures of being a member of a London Studies Group is you get to see a fantastic range of buildings and sites in London. For their April trip London studies had a backstage tour of the National Theatre organised by Roz Gooding – particularly interesting if you are a regular visitor to the NT for their many excellent plays.
The tour led by a very well inform guide, explored the unseen area of the theatre and gave a superb glimpse into the backstage world. We were given a briefing on the history of behind the establishment of the theatre followed by a tour of the backstage areas including workshops and the complexity of designing and building scenery and other props. Well worth a visit.
The NT also organise Architectural and Costume Tours- worth considering for future London Studies visits.
