For its February meeting Knole’s Science for All talk, was by Dr Stuart McDonald of Bart’s Cancer Research Institute. The talk on ‘Why is Cancer difficult to treat” was followed up this month by a visit to his research laboratory for a half day seminar and laboratory tour.
Following a presentation by the research charity, Cancer Research UK about its work, we were given a fascinating lecture about the pioneering scientific research being undertaken at the Institute. The lab tour was particularly interesting and we had the opportunity to see how ultra modern imaging technology was being used as well as a microscope to see what cancer cells actually look like.
The new programme of Science for All talks start in October. See details in the new Handbook.
